CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL TUESDAY - RACEBETS REVIEW

1:30 Supreme Novice Hurdle - A great start, although could have been better as the 4th on the ratings Go Native beat the top-rated Medermit. Fortunately, I backed them both each-way and had the reverse forecast so that set me up nicely for the rest of the day. It was a shame Medermit jumped into the back of Cousin Vinny as that cost him the win but a good start.

2:05 Arkle Chase - I was kicking myself a little as the winner would actually have been a stats-qualifier because he started at an SP of less than 11/1 (as would the 2nd and the 3rd) but even then I don't think I would have considered him given the recent poor Irish record in the event.

2:40 NH Chase - A fantastic win for Wichita Lineman who was the only real stats-qualifer and top-rated. I managed to get 10/1 so was happy to see the SP and what a ride from McCoy. I think Ollie Magern belied his odds of 66/1 but tired in the closing stages. Another top-rated winner though.

3:20 Champion Hurdle - So close with top-rated Celestial Halo but it wasn't too be. He maybe was in front earlier than he liked but no excuses, beaten by a better horse in Punjabi who was only 7th on the ratings with the 2nd-rated Binocular a close 3rd. Great race, wrong result...but no harm done as the each-way bet covered us.

4:00 Cross-X Chase - Another top-rated winner in Garde Champetre who actually was probably the best bet on the card in hindsight as he was clear on the ratings and the only positive RB contender. Still, at 7/2 not a bad result.

4:40 Mares Hurdle - My first mistake as I should have at least had a cover bet on the top-rated Quevega to cover my each-way bet on United at 9/2. She romped home and could be interesting for the Champion Hurdle next year

A pleasing day for the ratings all round, hope some of you made some cash off them.
